Meet our Sponsored Artists for the Australian Body Art Festival 2019 - Lorna Nickels
TODAY we welcome back Lorna Nickels as a sponsored artist for the Australian Body Art Festival 2019.
In 2017, Lorna was one of our first sponsored artists and I'm beyond excited she has agreed to represent FPSA again this year.
A combination of skill, imagination and dedication to creating beautiful art makes Lorna a force to be reckoned with.
“Being part of team Face Paint Shop Australia for ABAF in 2017 was one of the highlights of my painting journey so far, so I’m ecstatic to have the chance to experience it again,” she said.
“I am so grateful that my love of face and body painting has grown into a business, which allows me to juggle work and responsibilities as a mum of two energetic school kids.”
Lorna lives in Adelaide, South Australia, and is better known on Instagram as LennieDin, her alter alias and name of her successful face paint and body art business.
As a face painting instructor, Lorna offers classes at the WEA Adult Learning Centre in Adelaide, and has also instructed at the Australian Body Art Awards in Melbourne.
In 2017, she won Highly Commended in Brush and Sponge, and Runner Up for her entry in the face painting category at her first appearance at the Australian Body Art Festival in Cooroy. In addition, she’s placed in several international makeup contests, including Mehron’s 21 Days of Halloween Makeup (2015), and Paintopia’s Christmas Jumper Contest (2018). She also won the 2018 Hair and Beauty South Australia Body Art competition.
It's clear Lorna is just getting warmed up and this is an artist you should be watching closely.
“I want to thank Kate for this amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to experience ABAF again with Team Face Paint Shop Australia.”
Lorna Nickels will compete in Body Paint: Brush and Sponge as well as Face Paint categories at the Australian Body Art Festival 2019. Her model will be Rebecca Egan.

About Team Face Paint Shop Australia and our Artist Sponsorships
Representing a mix of talent, novice, experience and enthusiasm, #teamfacepaintshopaustralia will be loud and proud at this year’s event, with 5 artists, 6 models, and a support crew to keep us all in line (good luck with that!).
This is the third year we've offered an Artist’s Sponsorship Package, which includes entry fees and accommodation, as well as product.
"It’s an honour for me to pay it forward and bring face and body artists together to enjoy the celebration of our ‘industry’ at the Australian Body Art Festival," said Kate, owner of Face Paint Shop Australia.
"As you might expect, there's a lot of costs involved to attend an event like this, especially when traveling interstate, so I’m happy to ease the burden for our artists."
Individual sponsorship packages are valued $750 per artist.
"It's not just about the financial assistance though. I think the team support factor really helps first time competitors to push themselves beyond the comfort zone and make the leap from dreamer to do-er.
"I’m both humbled and excited to have such wonderful people to share the experience with and represent my business."
The Australian Body Art Festival is an annual celebration of Face and Body Art, held in Cooroy on QLD's sunshine coast.
