Meet our Sponsored Artist for the Australian Body Art Festival 2019 - Kristy O'Neil

IT'S TIME to welcome back KRISTY O'NEIL to #teamfacepaintshopaustralia, our most experienced sponsored artist and competitor at the Australian Body Art Festival 2019.

Artist Kris O'Neil and winning entry face paint 2017

With more than 10 years of competition painting under her belt, Kris is one of Australia’s most awarded face and body painters and for good reason: She takes the task of creating art seriously.

In fact, face and body art is just one of her many talents. Kris also illustrates children's books, paints murals, as well as commissioned water colours for clients all over the world. Now that's some serious street-cred.

I met Kris when she put her hand up to be our first team mentor at the Australian Body Art Festival, back in 2017.

I was immediately impressed by her generosity in sharing her wisdom and dedication to the face and body paint 'industry'.

Based in Adelaide, Kris launched her face painting business 'Mask Face and Body Art' in 2008 (now trading as Salty Fox), and aside from regular gig work, Kris also works as a face paint instructor, both locally, interstate, and internationally.

"It has been a wonderful, magical time of my artistic career and I don’t see an end in sight, rather, I’m just getting warmed up," she says.

"Nothing compares to body art and I feel totally consumed by it.

"I love nothing better than to immerse myself in the creative process of designing a body piece, whether its for a competition or a client, either way I get to lose myself in my imagination.

"I love to teach other artists and find joy in sharing my love for this art. When people compliment me on my work my standard response is, well I can’t sing and I can’t dance, but I have always been artistic.

"Being a face painter is a large part of my identity and I’m proud of it."

And so she should be.

Please join us in supporting Kris O'Neil as she goes for gold at the Australian Body Art Festival in Cooroy again in 2019. Kris will compete in Body Paint: Brush and Sponge as well as Face Paint events at the Australian Body Art Festival 2019.

Kris will be painting model Alicia Crampton

About Team Face Paint Shop Australia and our Artist Sponsorships

Representing a mix of talent, novice, experience and enthusiasm, #teamfacepaintshopaustralia will be loud and proud at this year’s event, with 5 artists, 6 models, and a support crew to keep us all in line (good luck with that!).

This is the third year we've offered an Artist’s Sponsorship Package, which includes entry fees and accommodation, as well as product.

"It’s an honour for me to pay it forward and bring face and body artists together to enjoy the celebration of our ‘industry’ at the Australian Body Art Festival," said Kate, owner of Face Paint Shop Australia.

"As you might expect, there's a lot of costs involved to attend an event like this, especially when traveling interstate, so I’m happy to ease the burden for our artists."

Individual sponsorship packages are valued $750 per artist.

"It's not just about the financial assistance though. I think the team support factor really helps first time competitors to push themselves beyond the comfort zone and make the leap from dreamer to do-er.

"I’m both humbled and excited to have such wonderful people to share the experience with and represent my business."

The Australian Body Art Festival is an annual celebration of Face and Body Art, held in Cooroy on QLD's sunshine coast.
