Spirit Gum is a cosmetic grade adhesive used primarily for attaching costume prosthetics to skin eg. hair, wigs, moustaches, bald caps, false noses, and special effects protrusions etc.
The first recorded use of spirit gum in a theatrical makeup guide was in a publication titled "How to makeup; a practical guide for amateurs by Haresfoot and Rouge", in 1877
Spirit Gum is removed with spirit gum remover, rubbing alcohol, vaseline, or cocoa butter.
How to use spirit gum
Read the label before use. Apply adhesive on skin and prosthetic surface areas (where it will be attached) ad allow it to dry slightly until it feels tacky to the touch. Lay appliance over adhesive and press gently, allow to dry.
How to remove spirit gum
Saturate and gently wipe the area repeatedly with spirit gum remover until all gum residue is gone. Wash area with cleanser and water.
Warning:
Keep out of reach of children. Limit use to small, topical areas. Do not use in the eye area. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Flammable, keep away from fire. Use in well-ventilated area.
